MVHS CRew
May 11th was a beautiful day and one to be celebrated! In the final crew regatta of the season, MVHS Senior Danis Velasco-Torres (right) and MVHS Junior Logan Gullberg (left) won the silver medal in the Men’s Varsity Double, taking second place in the state! Here they are pictured after their race with MVHS Crew coaches Jamie Kirk (right) and Adam Hazard (left). Theirs was one of five boats in the final heat at the end of the day. The race was a close one with boats finishing only seconds apart! These athletes poured it on in their final sprint to take the silver medal. Crew is a club sport at MVHS that welcomes young men and women with no prior rowing experience. Crew members learn to race in boats of 1, 2, 4 and 8 rowers.
